The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) is one of the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI National Language Resource Centers, whose role is to improve the nation's capacity to teach and learn foreign languages effectively.
An interdisciplinary center for the study of the Habsburg Empire, Austria and other successor states, and the new Europe.
Center for German & European Studies
The Center for German and European Studies (CGES) is a consortium of the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and the University of Wisconsin (Madison) that promotes knowledge about Germany and Europe among established and emerging scholars, students, K–12 teachers, policymakers, business leaders and other professionals, and the general public.
Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies
The Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies was established within the College of Liberal Arts and is an Independent Center with its main administrative relationship with the Department of History. CHGS is also affiliated with The Institute for Global Studies, The Humanities Institute, Department of German, Dutch and Scandinavian Languages, The Human Rights Program at the University of Minnesota School of Law and The Center for European Studies.
Finnish Studies at the University of Minnesota was founded in the late 1800s. Supported by a vibrant local community, Finnish studies has helped create an awareness and knowledge of the Finnish language and culture locally, regionally, and internationally.
The Modern Greek Studies Program promotes study, research, and publications focusing on modern times from the Greek perspective. The Program coordinates course offerings, scholarly visits, graduate fellowships, and a series of publications.
